Day 1 - Saturday - Depart USA.
Day 2 – Sunday – Arrive Scotland where you will be met by our Scotland representative who will help you pick up your self-drive van, give you directions, send you on your way and be available to you throughout you trip. Overnight for the next three nights at the Cringletie House, a luxurious, romantic and comfortable small country house hotel and restaurant, the only AA Top 200 Hotel in the Scottish Borders, just south of Edinburgh, Scotland. The castle type Victorian baronial mansion is set in the tranquil and rural countryside, where sheep outnumber humans!
Day 3 – Monday – Play Luffnes New Course. Established in 1894 and designed by Tom Morris, Luffness New Golf Club has changed little to the present day. There can be few more stimulating courses than Luffness New. Although Luffness hosts the qualifying rounds for the Open Championship, its main purpose is to serve the needs of its members and visitors.
Day 4 – Tuesday – Play North Berwick. It was the formation in 1832 of North Berwick Golf Club that marked the beginning of organized golf over terrain which in time would be expanded to become the West Links which we know today. Even in the glittering array of Scotland’s seaside golf courses, North Berwick’s West Links stands out as a rare gem. It has taken a long time to evolve to its present state of excellence, but it has been time well spent.
Day 5 - Wednesday – Gullane #1 is your venue today. Gullane Golf Club offers championship quality links courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. Gullane No.1 has a long history of hosting international Championship events, including the Scottish Amateur Championship, Open Championship Qualifying, Seniors Open Amateur and European Boys Team Championships in recent years. Crail is sublime, strange, wonderful, whimsical and weird -- all at the same time. It is also one of the truly great golf experiences to be experienced anywhere. After golf transfer to the Carnoustie Golf Hotel for your next two nights. Situated on the edge of the Carnoustie Championship course, one of the top three golf courses in the country. The Carnoustie Hotel has 85 en suite bedrooms which includes 10 suites, on site leisure facilities in Club Carnoustie includes Sauna, indoor pool, steam room, jacuzzi, and gym.
Day 6 – Thursday – What a fantastic experience to play Carnoustie. Golf has been played over the links at Carnoustie since the 1500’s but the present course came into being in 1850 when it was designed by Alan Robertson of St Andrews. Some 20 years later the legendary Old Tom Morris improved and extended the course to 18 holes and in 1926 the famous architect James Braid redesigned the Championship course extensively and it has become one of the finest and most difficult Open Courses over the years.
Day 6 – Thursday – Depart Carnoustie to play Murcar Golf Course in Aberdeen, Scotland, Murcar was once described by Golf Monthly writer Barry Ward as having, fairways ‘tighter than a taxman's purse!’ Its sand hills are legendary and have played a key role in shaping the fairways and greens that are curved around the dunes. The views from this links course along the North Sea are as spectacular as the game challenging. After golf transfer to the Undy Arms Hotel. A famous and quite delightful little hotel with a magnetic atmosphere reminiscent of a warm and homely country inn. Nestling in a delightful part of Grampian Scotland, so convenient for Aberdeen and main routes yet sitting quietly in a riverside, country village setting, not far from the coast and beaches. Cruden Bay and the famous championship golf course there are only a few minutes away.
Day 7- Friday - Nestling in the dunes above the point where the River Ugie and the North Sea meet you will find Peterhead Golf Club, one of the finest links courses to be found in Scotland, the birthplace of golf. The Club, founded in 1841 is the 18th oldest golf club in the world. The course at Peterhead is an original links course and its layout owes very little to mans' handiwork. It is Mother Nature assisted by man that provides one of the most testing venues for a round of golf available.
Day 8 – Saturday - Cruden Bay Golf Course creates unique challenges demanding the skills of power, placement and fine judgment upon the discerning golfer. Set against a backdrop of subtly contoured greens and magnificent panoramic views, a visit to Cruden Bay will be a most memorable one and a great course to end your golf trip to Scotland. After golf transfer to a hotel at your departure airport.
